THE LORD IS WITH THEE!

From that moment the Presence of God would qualify him to be a mighty man, irrespective of titles, degrees and social prestige. Gideon's humble and sincere confession of lack, ("my family is poor .... I am the least in my father's house."), was quickly brushed to one side by the Lord with a note of finality as He said, "... Surely I will be with thee,..." Astounding, amazing, but true! The Presence of the Lord supplies every lack and need; for it is written: "... Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which He hath promised to them that love Him?" (James 2:5). In 1 Cor. 1:26 and 29, we read: "... Not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: ... That no flesh should glory in His Presence." However, the Lord is not turning out dunces, for His Spirit is one "of wisdom and understanding,..." (Isa. 11:2). In Isa. 50:4, we read: "The Lord hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season ..." His chosen were to confound the wise; ... and ... confound ... the mighty;" (1 Cor. 1:27). Though Stephen`s occupation was one of humble ranking, serving tables; still, the different schools of his day could not "... resist the wisdom and spirit by which he spake" (Acts 6).

THE LORD IS WITH THEE.

Our sufficiency being of God, "... we use great boldness of speech:" (2 Cor. 3:5,12). Dauntless courage has always been a token of the Presence of God. In Acts 4:13 we read: "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus." His Presence has been the ever comforting, impelling factor which has driven man to stand firm in their faith of a risen Christ; as we read in Isa. 51:12: "I, even I, am He that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass." Deut. 20:4: "... the LORD your God is He that goeth with you, to fight for you ..." And "... it is nothing with (Him) to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: ..." (2 Chron. 14:11).

THE LORD IS WITH THEE.

In Ex. 33, we learn more about the necessity and the effects of the Presence of God. Moses said: "... If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence." He further states that only the Presence of God can separate them from the world, which is so essential; for "... the friendship of the world is enmity with God ..." (James 4:4). The Lord granted Moses his desire and said: "... My Presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." The Presence of God gives rest. "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it." (Heb. 4:1). Unbelief and disobedience will leave you outside; (Heb. 3:19; 4:11).

THE LORD IS WITH THEE.

In, Num. 23:21-23, His Presence was manifested thus: There was a shout of a King in the camp; iniquity and perverseness was not to be seen; and the powers of darkness had no influence over them.

THE LORD IS WITH THEE.

There is no need to borrow from the cheap pleasures of this world then; for "... in (His) Presence is fulness of joy; at (His) right hand there are pleasures for evermore. (Ps. 16:11). Then our eyes are opened to see that "...with (Him) is the fountain of life: and in (His) light we shall see light" (Ps. 36:9). Many is the soul which after and endless, futile pursuit for satisfaction has "sat ... under His shadow with great delight, ..." and has exclaimed: "... thy love is better than wine" (Song of Sol. 1:2; 2:3).

THE LORD IS WITH THEE.

How may this all begin? Acts 3:19 says: "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;" A call to fellowship and a call to Holiness (1 Cor. 1:9; 1 Thess. 4:7). In Isa. 30:1, we read: "Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin." There must be a reality of the Presence of God in a person’s life. "... Enoch walked with God: ... and God took him (Gen. 5:24). Samson walked with Delilah, "... and wist not that the Lord was departed from him." and "... the Philistines took him ..." (Judges 16).

THE LORD IS WITH THEE,

"... thou mighty man of valour. ... And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto Him, ... throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath ..." (Judges 6:12,25). It is time to throw down every false worship that does not destroy the power of sin or produce in our lives the effects recorded in the Bible.

THE LORD IS WITH THEE.

"Glory and honour are in His Presence; strength and gladness are in His place" (1 Chron. 16:27).
